Rib Muscle Pain
One of the first solutions for pain management is to access what exactly is wrong with the patient. If you know what is hurting and what the cause is, then this process is simple. Do you know the cause of your rib muscle pain? This would be something that needs a bit of assessing and testing to determine what is actually causing the pain. This is the case in regards to pain management.
Rib Muscle Pain
If you have rib muscle pain, your doctor will need to determine several things. Here are a series of questions that he or she will ask to determine the actual cause of the pain in question and how they should move forward.
• The first need is to describe the exact location of the pain as it relates to the body.
• Rating the pain on a scale of 1 to 10, for example, is the next question asked. It helps them to assess the pain level that you have in relation to the condition you are facing.
• How bad does it hurt right now?
• When is the worst pain?
• When is the pain at its least amount?
• What is an acceptable level of pain?
• When did it begin? How long does the pain last? What types of variations are included?
• What makes it worse? What makes it better?
• What effects does it have on your life such as other symptoms, sleep, concentration, irritability, physical activity and so on?
Through the assessment of these situations and the patient’s own wording of how the pain feels, a doctor can begin to understand just how the patient feels as well as the best way to handle their condition. It is going to be necessary to consider what the next step is then. Further testing may need to be done. For example, in our example above, x-rays will be needed to determine what the underlying cause of the condition is. Blood work, screenings and other tests will be performed to determine the actual condition and work at healing it. When all of this is complete, the doctor will prescribe the best possible pain management for their need.
See your doctor if you are suffering for rib muscle pain as they can determine the best treatment for your problem.
